The State Cabinet on Thursday gave its nod for additional allocation of 10 tmc ft of Cauvery water for meeting the supply requirement of 110 villages, which are now part of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and also to meet the future demand till 2025.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the additional water would also be utilised under the proposed Cauvery V Stage which will serve some of the erstwhile City Municipal Council and Town Municipal Council areas that have now been merged with the BBMP.
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) had recently written to the State government stating its requirement of additional 10 tmc ft of Cauvery water for Bangalore City.
