GTD moots unanimous election of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar to LS

Chamundeshwari MLA G T Devegowda on Saturday exhorted all the political parties to arrive at a consensus and unanimously elect Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of royal scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar to  Lok Sabha from Mysore parliamentary seat.

Participating in the condolence meet organised by Arasu Jananga Okkoota in association with Kannada Vaidya Parishat in the city, Devegowda who had lost the LS polls against Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar back in the year 1996 said by electing Pramoda Devi, it would be a fitting tribute to Srikantadatta who passed away recently. “It was due to the farsightedness of Wadiyar’s, the People’s Representatives Meet came into existence. Though democracy took over the princely rule, governments have not been able to match the developmental works initiated by the latter,” he said. 

Devegowda also urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to come to the aid of the Mysore royal family, which was  embroiled in legal disputes. He also demanded the government to set up a museum highlighting the contributions of Wadiyars.
