Newlywed man found dead on rail tracks

A newlywed man was found dead on the railway tracks near Bapujinagar railway gate late on Saturday night. 

The deceased was  identified as Vijay Kumar, 27, a resident of Bapujinagar 6th Cross. Police suspect that he might have been mowed down by a speeding train while crosssing the tracks on his way home from work. He was a contract employee with Corporation Bank in Indiranagar, police said. 

The City railway police have registered a case of unnatural death. A senior officer said that they were not ruling out a case of suicide. 

According to police, Kumar had married just five months ago. 

Drug-peddler held

Acting on a tip-off that two men were “selling charas” in front of KHB Complex, Yelahanka New Town, police conducted a  raid and arrested one of them, Rohith Vaid, 22, from Kashmir. 

Police said that the other man, identified by Rohith as Junaid, fled the scene during raid. Police have seized 500 gram of charas (marijuana), estimated to be worth Rs one lakh. 

An investigation found that the two men had procured the contraband from Haryana through their friends in Jammu and Kashmir.

Prostitution racket busted

Sleuths from the CCB Women and Narcotics Wing busted a “prostitution racket” in BTM Layout 2nd Stage and rescued three women. 

Five men have been arrested for the alleged crime. They are Ramesh, 30, Kumar, 22, Raju, 28, Kumar, 26 and Srinivas, 32.  

Police investigations have revealed that the arrested had lured women from West Bengal and northern states promising them jobs in beauty parlours. 

Madiwala Police have registered a case.
