JOIN USThe CBI on Tuesday filed charge sheet against 18 people, including Karwar MLA Sathish Sail in a case pertaining to illegal export of iron ore by Mallikarjuna Shipping Company, from the Belikeri port near Karwar in Uttara Kannada district Sources in the investigation agency said the accused have been charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and trespass under the Indian Penal Code sections.
Sail is an Independent MLA from Karwar. He is among the four MLAs arrested by the CBI in connection with the iron ore export scam. The other MLAs are B Anand Singh (Vijaynagar), B Nagendra (Kudligi) and T H Suresh Babu (Kampli), all from Bellary district. All of them are now in judicial custody. The CBI has been probing iron ore export case on the orders of the Supreme Court.
