JOIN USSix people have filed interlocutory applications before the Karnataka High Court stating that the allegations of encroachment of Sarakki lake near JP Nagar in Bangalore South are baseless.
Following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by the People’s Campaign for Right to Water, the Bangalore South Tahsildar had surveyed the Sarakki Lake and submitted his report that six families have encroached on the lake bed and constructed houses.
In their plea, the six members said the land belongs to them and they have been paying property tax.
There is no truth in the allegation that they have encroached on lake land.
The division bench of Chief Justice D H Waghela and S N Sathyanarayana directed the petitioners to submit all the relevant documents pertaining to the ownership of land when the next hearing takes place on January 20.
