Don't certify Indian films, says Pakistani court

A Pakistani court Friday restrained the censor board from issuing certificates for the exhibition of Indian films in the country, a media report said.

Lahore High Court justice Khalid Mahmood Khan issued the order saying that the Federal Film Censor Board should stop issuing certificates to films made in India until further notice, Dawn online reported.

Demanding a ban on Indian films, the petitioners said the damage to Pakistan's film industry was irreparable due to the screening of Indian films.

The court has also sought a reply from the government and censor board, the report said.The Lahore High Court Dec 10 stayed the beaming of foreign content and ruled that Indian films and television serials were included in the "Negative List" under the current bilateral trade regime. 

Earlier, 10 entertainment television channels in Pakistan were slapped with a Rs.10 million fine for airing excessive Indian and foreign content.
