Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, on Monday, held a meeting with representatives of the organisations which have expressed their commitment to construct houses for the victims.
He told the donors that the Government would complete purchase of land for houses within a week and hand over the same to the donors. The work should begin at the earliest so that the victims would get proper shelter before rainy season starts next year.

Later speaking to press persons, the CM said the Government had earlier planned to construct one lakh houses for the victims under PPP model. However, the donors had come forward to build 1.2 lakh houses. He was overwhelmed by the response from the public.
Yeddyurappa said the Government had also planned to build two lakh houses under housing schemes sponsored by Government of India and the State government. The Government was also considering making use of provisions under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme to develop infrastructure facilities in the new villages.

Representatives of prominent donor organisations attended the meeting.
