The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has directed all schools in the State — government, aided as well as private unaided schools following any central boards (with the exception of unaided minority schools), to publicly display all necessary details to facilitate admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

Admissions for academic year 2014-15 are scheduled to start from January.

Circular

Accordingly, all schools have been asked to display the procedures of admissions and details such as number of seats reserved under Section 12 (1) (c) of RTE Act and points of entry (whether in Class I or pre-primary), school fees in each school and other information like the medium of instruction etc.

Along with this, even the contact information of block education officers (BEOs) such as their phone numbers and their office addresses, have to be displayed on the school’s notice board.

Application forms

Application forms for admissions under the Right to Education Act will be available free of cost with block education officers. In the event that the schools refusing to accept such duly-filled admission forms, the department will initiate action against  such schools.

If the need arises, education officials will convene meetings with school managements and provide information to public. The circular has made it clear that a review meeting of the progress made after every 15 days needs to be conducted.

The Department of Public Instruction has specially set up RTE help desks to aid the public in case they have any queries related to the Act. The helpline number is 1800-425-34567.
