Bus mishap: JD(S) presents Rs 1 lakh relief

Opposition Leader H D Kumaraswamy, on Sunday, visited the victims of the bus accident, that claimed the lives of five persons on Saturday, near here.

He assured to release a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased from the district unit of the JD(S).

It has to be recalled that five persons were killed and 63 sustained injuries as a private bus fell into a stream on the outskirts of the city, near Chikkamandya, on Saturday. The injured are being treated at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences.

Roads

He was addressing media persons later. “A graver tragedy has been averted due to the timely intervention of the police and health department personnel and the District Administration.

The victims feel that the roads in the region should be repaired. They also demand adequate KSRTC services on the route.

 Deputy Commissioner B N Krishnaiah has responded positively to the people’s demands,” he said.

Welcoming the State government’s compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the families of the deceased, Kumaraswamy said, the government should consider increasing the compensation amount in view of the sufferings of the victims.

MLA N Chaluvarayaswamy, MLC B Ramakrishna, JD(S) district president D Ramesh, district youth wing president Shashidhar Belur, ex-MLAs M Srinivas, Vijayalakshmi Banddisiddegowda and C S Puttaraju and ZP ex-president Taggahalli Venkatesh were present.
