Last Updated 24 November 2009, 17:54 IST

In all the three parties, the leaders of the respective parties have urged their senior leaders to give prominence to Chikballapur district.
On earlier occasions, prominence was given to candidates from Kolar district, right from the days - Kolar had remained un undivided district.

Till so far, candidates from Kolar district only have been the members of the Legislative Council. And now that Chikballapur has been carved into a new district, prominence should be given to this region, the people of this region argue.

In the recently held Congress party meeting to select the candidate, here, all the Congress party workers are said to have demanded the party observers that prominence should be given to Chikballapur district. They have urged that the candidate from Chikballapur should selected. Infact, Yaluvahalli N Ramesh is the candidate representating Chikballapur district from the Congress, while Nanjundegowda is representing Shidlaghatta taluk.

Former minister from Chintamani K M Krishna Reddy, former MLA from Gowribidnur Jyothi Reddy, KMF Director K V Nagaraju are the other aspirants from the JD(S).

However, all these aspirants are ready to strive for the party and extend their support, in case if former minister from Kolar district Alangur Shrinivas is given the ticket.
Other development on this front is, high-level talks are on to chose a unanimous candidate between the Congress and the JD(S). And if this equation wins over, then the Kolar-Chikballapur row would be pushed aside.

From the BJP, P M Raghu is the aspirant from Chikballapur. But the BJP aspirants from Kolar district are equally trying had to get a ticket. And amidst all this, the BJP leaders of this region are also trying to ensure that Chikballapur got more focus.
The Congress party candidate is in a favourable position, since, among the five Legislative Assembly constituencies in Chikballapur district, four of them belong to the Congress party.

The four MLAs of the Congress party are ready to work for leader, whomever the party choses.
