IIT graduate commits suicide

Twenty-five-year-old Ayush Kirti, who graduated from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, but could not get a job of his choice, committed suicide  here.

The engineering graduate hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his residence at Salimpur near Gandhi Maidan, shortly after his mother had given him a pullover as a New Year’s gift.
His father, Laxman Choudhary, said Kirti was under depression for the last two days after the private firm, where he had given an interview, found him not competent enough for the job.

Family sources said Kirti was also worried over the mounting interest on the loan which his father had taken for his education, and was, therefore, quite keen to bag a  job with a decent salary so that he could pay off the debt. Kirti was the only son.

The officer-in-charge (O-C) of Gandhi Maidan police station Rajbindu Prasad rushed to the house. “Kirti was not satisfied with the jobs offered after he passed out. This led to depression,” said the cop.
