Locomotive derails at City Railway Station

The schedule of some trains went haywire after an air-conditioned (AC) locomotive derailed at the Bangalore City Railway Station on Sunday.

According to sources, the locomotive derailed in the morning during tack alignment. Due to the accident, Kaveri Express was held up at Baiyyappanahalli for almost an hour, while Lalbagh Express (which runs from Bangalore to Chennai) was detained on the platform for 50 minutes. The train had to begin its journey from another platform due to non-clearance of tracks.

Officials from the South Western Railways said that the delayed trains had made up for the loss in time and did not cause any inconvenience to passengers.

They added that there were no casualties or damage to property and termed it a “minor incident.”
Three weeks ago, three empty coaches of Nizamuddin-Bangalore Rajdhani Express derailed after hitting a compound wall near the station.
