The new motorcycle, christened ‘TVS Jive’, light-weight and propelled by 110 cc engine, is packed with a technology that makes it one of the most convenient motorcycles to ride in the country, said TVS Chairman Venu Srinivasan. A major feature is the absence of ‘clutch lever’ that will be a big relief to motorcyclists, especially negotiating peak-hour traffic, he said.

“There is no system of clutch at all (as in conventional bikes) and TVS Jive has an automatic gear,” he said. It will reduce gear changes by a substantial 70 per cent and the bike can be started in any gear and does not have to be in neutral.

TVS also launched ‘TVS Wego’, a 110 cc scooter, positioned as ‘multi-user vehicle’, up-scaled from ‘TVS Scooty’ which is popular with college girls, he said. Fitted with 12” diameter wheels and better front suspension, the new scooter will have greater vehicular stability and suited to users across all ages and categories. While the ex-show room price of ‘TVS Jive’ will be Rs 41,000 a piece, TVS ‘Wego’ will come at a price of Rs 42,500. Both the new vehicles will be manufactured at the company’s Hosur plant near Bangalore. For developing ‘TVS Jive’, TVS had spent Rs 25 crore.
