Transport and City in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy on Monday said that the ongoing road development works, at an estimated cost of Rs 560 crore, would be completed by May.

The minister announced this during an inspection of the asphalting works on KH Road, Lalbagh-Siddapura Road, KR Road, VV Puram Main Road, Siddaiah Road, among others.

“A total of 260 major lanes are being given a facelift, out of which 26 lanes have already been asphalted. At 22 other lanes, the work is under progress. In the coming days, the project will be intensified. By May, all the road works will be completed. At a few places, pavements and roadside drains are being remodelled, followed by asphalting,” Reddy said.

He said that a total of Rs 300 crore had already been released by the government for the project. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be approached for the remaining funds. Reddy attributed the bad condition of roads to civic projects not being taken up in the last three to four years and heavy rains last year.

Mayor B S Satyanarayana, Somashekhar, the BBMP chief engineer for major roads, and others were present.
