Suneel spurs Karnataka

Suneel Raju’s big hundred and Pavan Deshpande’s near-century effort powered Karnataka ‘A’ to a mammoth first-innings total against Himachal Pradesh in the under-25 tournament for the Col CK Nayudu Trophy in Amtan, Himachal Pradesh.

At close on the second day of the four-day quarterfinal, the visitors had amassed 549 for nine with tailender Aditya Sagar (44 batting) on the verge of a half-century. After opener Mayank Agarwal’s 59, Suneel occupied the crease for 343 balls for his 144 which came with the help of 24 hits to the fence. Deshpande augmented the total with a 121-ball 90 that included 15 fours and a six.
