Militants fired at an Army patrol on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir this evening, drawing retaliation from the soldiers.

No one was injured in the brief exchange of fire between ultras and Rashtirya Rifles personnel at Awantipora, some 32 kms from here, in Pulwama district, police sources said.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants, they said.
