Poojary seeks action against Prabhakar Bhat

Last Updated 07 January 2014, 20:05 IST

Former Union finance minister B Janardhana Poojary has strongly criticised Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Pracharak Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his provocative speech at Hindu Sangama conference, which was held at Gurupur, recently.

He demanded the government to take stringent action against Bhat and also against the organisers.

Speaking to media persons at District Congress Committee (DCC) office here, on Tuesday, Janardhan Poojary said that the statements of Prabhakar against Muslim religious leaders are anti-social and may cause communal tension. “These kinds of statements are not new from Prabhakar Bhat. Unfortunately, being a doctor, he is known for his third grade statements. In the name of saving Hindu religion, he is destroying the holiness of the religion. The religion won’t entertain his statements which would hurt the sentiments of other community people,” he said.

‘Children becoming criminals’

Hindu fundamentalists come in different forms during every election in different names which may be Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Hindu Sene, Bajaranga Dal or NaMo Brigade to disturb the communal harmony in the district. Coastal districts have suffered under communal violence in past and people would never expect it again. Everyone, without considering the caste or community should condemn these kinds of anti-social activities.

Media should also highlight this to increase awareness among people about these forces, he said. “These people mislead children to become criminals  and even God won’t forgive them for this. They just want to crush those who raise voice against them. Did their leaders like Mohan Bhagavat or Atal Bihari Vajpayee told to do this?” Poojary questioned.

Angry on Anjaneya

Poojary was unhappy with Minister for Social Welfare Anjaneya who had ordered for some alteration at his Room number 340 in Vidhan Soudha, where a wall connecting to next chamber was brought down on Monday. “People have given them power to rule. Isn’t it enough? Till now, all ministers had managed with the heritage structure. This sends a wrong message to the people. If I happen to be the Chief Minister, I would have sacked him from the cabinet within no period,” he added.

About Samaja Parivarthana Samudaya Leader S R Hiremutt’s documents against Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, Poojary said that the High Court and the Supreme Courts are not convinced with the proofs supporting to the allegation against D K Shivakumar. If Hiremutt has enough documents, he can submit them to the court, he said.
