'RGV is one of the best directors'

PET PROJECTS

'RGV is one of the best directors'

It is all in the family. Rather, all the family is in it! Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu’s own production boasts of a huge star cast with his father, veteran actor Mohan Babu, playing the lead and his brother Manoj too playing a substantial role.

Vishnu has roped in actress Raveena Tandon who is paired opposite Mohan Babu. Hansika Motwani and Pranita are in as well. It is indeed a challenge to promote and popularise a movie with such big names from all language industries.

So Vishnu decided to shoot a video with all the actors in it. The song has been sung by Indian rapper Baba Sehgal. “I thought this is the only way to do justice to such a huge star cast. It was shot and completed in a day. We began at 7 am and wrapped up by 10 pm. All of us had a lot of fun shooting for the video.

The actors have all been given a retro look,” Vishnu tells Metrolife. Vishnu further states that this video will be a prelude to the movie. Vishnu is not new to the mammoth task of juggling acting and production. He began working in his father’s studio when he was barely 15 years old.
“I picked up the nuances of production, acting and direction as a teenager. My father taught me the grassroots of production and by the time I started working, I was informed about what went on behind the camera and in front of it as well,” reasons Vishnu. With such solid experience behind him, Vishnu confesses that he still gets the jitters on a Friday when his movie releases.

Vishnu has also signed up for a film with Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) in Telugu. Ask him how did that happen and he says, “We sat across each other and after a round of discussion, both of us found the subject interesting. Ram Gopal Varma is one of the best directors I’ve known and it is great working with him,” feels Vishnu. About the movie, he says, “It’s too premature to talk about the project but it’s based on a real incident.”

If all this pressure is not enough, Vishnu is also working overtime to complete his pet project, based on the Ramayana which will have Mohan Babu, playing the role of Ravana. “The project will cost about 85 crores and what I wanted to bring across to the viewers was that Ravana isn’t as bad as he is made out to be. Through this movie, we will revisit the old times,” he signs off.
