Couple, aide held for 'cheating' 15 job aspirants

A couple and their associate were arrested by the Vidyaranyapura police on Thursday on a charge of cheating several people by promising them jobs with software companies.

Gayathri Reddy, 35, her husband Lakshmikanth, 40, both from Nanjappa Layout, and their associate Krishna, 36, were running a fictitious firm, ‘Dream at Job’, and “pocketed” Rs 90,000 each from 15 people, promising to place them in software companies, police said. The arrests were made after Madhusudhan, one of the alleged victims, made a complaint to Vidyaranyapura police.

He said he met Reddy at the “firm’s” office and she told him that she had contacts in major software companies and could easily place anyone there.

“I got an offer letter from a company, mentioning the appointment date but when I reported for duty that day, the company staff said that nobody had been given a job,” Madhusudhan said. “It was then I realised I had been taken for a ride.” During interrogation, Reddy is said to have confessed to “cheating” 15 job aspirants.
