Motorbike and car lovers had a perfect Sunday, having a closer look at super-fast and high-end vehicles at the first ever auto-expo, held, in the city.

Youths, mostly college-goers, who thronged the venue, were awestruck to see the mobikes, which they have seen only in movies and pictures. An engineering student, who was looking at a 1200cc California super-fast bike manufactured by Moto Guzzi, expressed: “It’s a beast, which I have never seen”. He was astonished when the salesman told him that it costs around Rs 25 lakh.

The expo has the latest mobikes and cars like Moto Guzzi, Aprilla, BMW, Hyosung, KTM bikes and high-end cars manufactured by companies like Volvo. The luxurious cars costs more than 40 lakh. Other automobile manufactures like Maruti, Tata, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Skoda, Renault and Nissan have thier cars on display along with Indian made mobikes.

Crowd puller

The three-day Mysore Auto Expo, which commenced on Friday, at Jayamma Govinde Gowda Convention Hall, has brought several super-bikes and cars to the city. Srikanth Urs, partner of Global Exhibitions and Services, speaking to Deccan Herald, said that the first ever expo in the heritage city is a crowd-puller and more than 10,000 people visited it. According to him, youths, who have only heard about such mobikes, had a chance to touch and feel them. They even have an opportunity to pose and click pictures in front of thier favourite vehicles.

He said, automobile manufactures are seeing Mysore as a potential city of buyers, in future, after Bangalore and Mangalore. While youths were heart-filled by sneak-peak, elders and others checked out for some cars and mobikes.

A PU student, who was posing in front of the Aprilla RSV-4,999.6cc bike, was quick to add: “What if we can’t ride them, at least, we can click a snap and feel the thrill”.
