CPI leader, Medha  group  join AAP

Medha Patkar-led Narmada Bachao Andoaln (NBA)  on Monday announced  joining the Aam Aadmi Party. 

The NBA said that its activists would join the newly born party to “improve the situation of the country”.  

Both of the organizations will fight together to solve the problems of Narmada oustees, they told a joint press conference.   However, the press conference in which joining of Left intellectual and JNU professor Kamal Mitra Chenoy was also announced got disrupted by a Hindu Sena activist. 

The activist raised slogans against senior AAP leader Prashant Bhushan and termed him a “traitor” for his advocating referendum on the issue of army deployment in Kashmir.

The NBA leader said that social activist Medha  Patkar will decide on her joining the AAP after a process of consultation which would be over very soon.  She is consulting with movement groups that work under the umbrella of the Narmada Bachao Andolan.

AAP leader Prashant Bhushan also announced that Left intellectual and JNU Professor Kamal Mitra Chenoy has joined the AAP.

 Welcoming them into the party, Bhushan said that the group has decided to join the AAP in its endeavour to “change the politics of the country and to fight against corruption. He claimed that other movements across the country are also joining the AAP.  

NBA leader Alok Agrawal said, “The Aam Admi Party has embarked on a successful attempt to put political power into the hands of the common people, and bring new light to their lives. 

It has also shown in the short time that it has been in power in Delhi that it fullfils the promises that it has made for the common people, and that it does what it says.”

Announcing his entry into the AAP, Chenoy described the party as a right platform to continue fight for justice to the marginalized people. Chenoy has been raising issues of  human rights in Jammu and Kashmir and North Eastern states. 

He has been member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India for many years now.
