An opportunity to showcase talents

The first-year students of Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies were welcomed in a grand fashion at the ‘Freshers’ Day’, organised at the college campus recently. The celebration saw the students interacting with their teachers and fellow students.

While some took time to open up and mix with the others, others participated actively in the games that were organised by the seniors. Games like paper dance, balloon dance, writing on a balloon with a pen, ice-breaking session etc made the freshers feel at home. Afaq, a final-year student, said that the freshers were extremely cooperative and showed a lot of enthusiasm during the games and the cultural show. “Organising the programme for them was a great experience.

The first-year students are very sportive and were ready to take up any given challenge. Though we had organised the programme for them, presenting it was their duty and they did that very well. We are looking forward to organising many activities and fests with them in the academic year,” he said.

Many competitions had also been organised for the students. Group and solo singing, group and solo dancing were some of the competitions that were held. Suman, a first-year-student, said that they had a lot of fun during the programme. “We got an opportunity to showcase our talents and got to meet and know our seniors better. I am looking forward to the academic year. For now, I want to focus on my academics. But I would also like to take part in the cultural activities that take place in the college,” he added.

The first-year students were given a brief overview about the college and its rules and regulations. They were also told about the curriculum and the placement sessions that will take place in the final year. The ice-breaking session saw the students talking about their expectations and experiences and their likes and dislikes. It also gave them an opportunity to discuss and clarify doubts with their seniors and teachers. The first-year students are all set for the academic year and  hope that they make the best out of the opportunities that they are getting.
