Speed-up site allocation process, urges Minister Sorake

Urban Development and District-in-Charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake directed the officials concerned to meet the deadline of the beneficiary programmes, at a taluk-level review meeting in Kundapur on Monday. 

Chairing the review meet, the minister went through the issues of allocation of sites and distribution of title deeds, drinking water supply etc., He told the officials to speed up the distribution of title deeds. The minister instructed the officials to ensure drinking water facility to the people belonging to SC/ST under Varahi scheme. He added that the officials should visit the villages to get in touch with people’s problems in the respective Gram Panchayat limits.

Responding to the problem raised by a Panchayat Development Officer regarding drinking water problem in Balkur, Belve, Gujjadi, Trasi, Gulvadi, Karkunje, Kavradi, Shankaranarayana and other villages, Sorake asked the Zilla Panchayat Engineering department official why necessary steps have not been taken yet. The official replied that the problem has not been met due to staff shortage in the department. Irritated by the answer, MLC Prathap Chandra Shetty warned the official not to come up with lame excuses, while they have not been able to draft the plans properly towards the solution of the problems. He expressed his displeasure over the lethargic attitude of the officials, for not carrying out village visits.

Site allocation

Dissatisfied by the non-allocation of sites, despite thousands of applications pouring-in from various places of the taluk, Vinay Kumar Sorake asked Panchayat and Revenue department officials why title deeds have not been distributed for the allocated sites. He meanwhile directed them to rectify the technical errors, which were responsible for the delay in the implementation of the scheme and to carry on with the distribution of title deeds soon. The Tahshildar said that more than 100 applications have been received towards the allocation of 11 acres of DC Manna land in Kanyana of Hattiyangadi village and the allocation process has been initiated as per the DC’s orders.

Ration cards

When the minister sought details regarding the distribution of ration cards, the official from food and civil supplies remained unanswered, which angered the minister. The Tahshildar said that as the distribution of BPL cards is an ongoing process, it has been delayed.

Varahi scheme

When MLC Prathapchandra Shetty asked why drinking water facility has not been provided to the people belonging to SC/ST in the taluk under Varahi scheme, the official concerned said that electrification has been done in 16 places under the scheme. Angered by the answer, the MLC told the official not to provide false information as he belongs to the same region and is aware of the truth. He in turn asked the Mescom officials whether electrical connection has been provided, to which they clearly said no.  Even more angered MLC warned the Varahi officer and directed to come up with a solution, within the week.

Meanwhile, Sorake instructed the officials to list out the points to be included in the revised Kasthurirangan report, after holding meetings in every villages coming under the limits of deemed forest areas in Kundapur. 

TP President Deepika S Shetty presided over, TMC President Kalavathi US, Revenue department Assistant Commissioner S Yogishwar, Tahshildar Gayathri Nayak, TP Executive Officer Adolfus Fernendes were present.
