CAT belled, now eyes on IIM

With CAT 2013 results out on Tuesday, a number of successful candidates from Bangalore are dreaming of entering the hallowed gates of IIMs. Many of them crossed the hurdle by securing above 99 percentile.

Neelash Agarwal, a former student of BITS, Pilani, belled the CAT in his second attempt  with a score of 99.85 percentile. “I want to take up finance and feel that IIM-Calcutta is the best place to pursue it. Becoming a financial analyst or getting into investment banking is my goal,” said Neelash.

Hard work pays

A resident of Rajasthan, he has been working in an engineering firm in Bangalore for the past one and a half years. “It was difficult to juggle work and studies. I had time only during the weekends to study. Nevertheless, I’m glad that I finally succeeded,” said Neelash.

For Akshita Ganesh, who scored 99.73 percentile, going to an IIM is a way of realising her goal of becoming an entrepreneur. Even cracking the exam was not much of an effort for Akshita, who has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the National University of Singapore. “This is the second time that I wrote the exam. Last time, I wrote it for fun. I realised that with a little bit of preparation, I could actually do well,” said Akshita.

Pedigree may have played a role in Akshita’s success as her parents are IIM-Calcutta alumni. Akshita has been working for a gaming company here for sometime now.

An IIT-Guwahati passout, Debratta Subudhiray developed an interest in pursuing marketing during his days as an engineering student. “During my college cultural festival, I was involved in various aspects of its organisation, from meeting sponsors and doing other things,” said Debratta.
