LPG cap to be raised to 12

The much-anticipated move to raise the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders from nine to 12 per year got a decisive push on Friday when Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi urged the government to raise the ceiling.

“We need 12 cylinders, nine cylinders are not sufficient. People of India and its womenfolk want 12 cylinders,” Gandhi said at the All India Congress Committee meeting .

Soon after Gandhi’s demand, Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily promised that the cap on subsidised cooking gas cylinders will be increased to 12 per household per annum“I want to tell the prime minister...pradhan mantriji...nine cylinders se baat nahin ban rahi. Humko 12 cylinders chahiye,” he said.
