Officials told to utilise grants soon

Taluk Panchayat President Reena Jagannath directed the officials concerned to utilize the grants released towards the development projects before the enforcement of the election code of conduct, in relation to the upcoming parliamentary elections. She was chairing the monthly KDP meet in Taluk Panchayat in Madikeri on Thursday, .

Executive Officer Sathyanarayana said that there are still two more months for the end of the current financial year. But, the code of conduct is likely to come into force from the end of February. As there will be administrative problems to release grants after the imposition of election code of conduct, the proposed projects should be completed before the deadline by various departments in Panchayat limits, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chescom official were told to speed up the electrification towards the drinking water supply projects, as summer is fast approaching.

Madikeri taluk Chescom Engineer Vasanth said that the electrification is almost complete and the pending work in three parts will be completed soon.

PDOs have identified the beneficiaries for Rajiv Gandhi National Rural Electrification Scheme to provide electric facility to 1,351 houses in the taluk. The list of beneficiaries will be finalised after the survey by Central committee.

BEO N Shridharan said that teachers have been appointed to the necessary schools and special classes by experts will be facilitated to students in order to achieve better results in the coming SSLC examinations in the taluk.

Nutritious food

EO Sathyanarayana said that the distribution of nutritious food in the anganwadis has not been carried out properly. He instructed the CDPOs to see to it that all needy children get the nutritious food on regular basis.

Child Development Officer Madappa said that as the food is being supplied to all the children who come to anganwadis. But the nutritious food is left out as the children of 5-6 years age are going to private schools. Taluk Panchayat President Reena Jagannath said that the anganwadi workers are not staying in anganwadis from 9 am to 4 pm, though there is a rule regarding the same and she told the official concerned to take measures to observe the rule.

Cattle check-up from Feb 15

Taluk Veterinary Officer Dr Chidananda said that the check-up of cattle will be carried out in each house of the taluk and if any cases of foot and mouth disease are found, vaccination will be done.

The programme will be implemented in the national-level and the cattle check-up will be done in very house of taluk centers under the guidance of Taluk Veterinary Officer.

The vaccination of the missed out cattle could be done at taluk veterinary hospital, he said. As on last November, 62 cases of foot and mouth disease were found in Katakeri, Bettathuru, Napoklu, K Nidugane, K Banaga and Karnangeri. The disease is under control now, he added.
