Samarth shines as OIL 'A' win

Samarth Dwivedi was in top form for the second straight day as OIL ‘A’ emerged victorious in the 34th PSPB Inter-Unit Golf Championship here on Friday.

Dwivedi carded a second straight three-under 69 as OIL ‘A’ totaled 423 for two rounds at the Eagleton Golf Resort.

GAIL ‘A’, led brilliantly by Jaibir Singh (69, 68), could only muster second place, finishing seven shots behind while ONGC ‘A’ ended third, a shot back at 431.

Dwivedi, with a two-round total of 138, also bagged the individual honours.

Gauri Monga, the country’s second best amateur player as per the Merit List, finished second at 140 in an event where some of the top male amateurs from India competed. “I putted really well today,” said a delighted Gauri, who represented GAIL ‘A’. “My approach shots were also good but my driving was horrible.”
