Two killed in accidents

Two persons, including a pedestrian, died in separate road accidents under Madiwala and Wilson Garden Traffic police limits on Thursday night.

In the first incident, an engineering student was knocked down by a speeding car in Jai Bhim Nagar near BTM Layout first stage under Madiwala traffic police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar, a resident of Maruthi Nagar, who was pursuing engineering in a private college. Around 11.45 pm, he was returning from a hotel after having dinner when the incident occurred. Kumar was crossing the road when a speeding car knocked him down. He had suffered from severe head injuries and succumbed after failing to respond to the treatment. The police seized the car and arrested the driver Manikanta.

In another incident, a 50-year-old man died after an unidentified vehicle rammed into his bike near Lalbagh Road under Wilson Garden Traffic police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Hasan, a resident of Someshwara Nagar. He ran a  mobile phone accessory and repair shop in Kalasipalya. Around 11 pm, he was returning home on his two-wheeler when the incident took place. As he reached Lalbagh road, a speeding vehicle knocked him down, mentioned the police.

Hasan, who fell down, suffered from severe injuries. The passersby, who noticed him lying in a pool of blood, rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
They are obtaining CCTV footage to identify the vehicle which caused the accident, added the police.
