Revenue and District in-charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad on Saturday said that the government would bear the medical expenditure of Vaibhavi, a 10-year-old girl admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital in the city, following murderous injuries.

Speaking to media after enquiring about the health of the girl from the doctors, Prasad said that the government would provide the treatment to the girl till she recovers.
He also appreciated the police for admitting the girl to a hi-tech hospital rather than a government hospital, which, he said, lacked state-of-the-art facilities.

According to sources, the girl who has suffered a severe hit on her head underwent a surgery on the day of admission (January 23) itself.

The doctors fear that she may have suffered memory loss. She is however said to be out of danger.

The incident

Vaibhavi and her mother Padma (40) were found in a pool of blood at their home at Siddalingapura on Mysore- Bangalore highway in the early hours of Thursday.

Padma had breathed her last, while Vaibhavi survived the attack by unknown miscreants.

Metagalli police led by investigating officer H R Vivekananda, are tracing the call records of Padma’s cell phone.

Parents away

Padma was working as a guard of the farm belonging to her NRI relative Anil Kumar at Siddalingapura.

She had been deserted by her husband Gopal four to five years ago.

Apart from looking after the farm, she was running a tea shop in front of the farm.

On the eve of the incident, Padma’s aged parents Srinivasaiah, 95 years and Alamelamma, 87 years, who were living with her, had gone to visit their son Devaraj at his house in Mysore.

Devaraj is an engineer with Sri Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) Limited.  Padma’s son Darshan is studying at Morarji Desai Model Residential School in Dodda Salundi on Mysore - Manandavadi road.

The minister also promised to take care of both Vaibhavi’s and her brother’s education.
