The fifth edition of Nirantharam, a music and dance festival presented by Sangeetha Sambramha and held at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, was off to a great start as the dancers of ‘Ability Unlimited’ presented Maharshi Agasthya and Bhagavad Gita, two dance ballets.

The group, which has been trained by Guru Pasha, enthralled the audience as it transformed its wheelchairs into chariots and performed the two acts. The audience was in for a huge surprise as the artistes performed various stunts on the wheelchairs, some of which were quite difficult.

The first half of the programme saw eminent musician RK Padmanabhan and danseuse Vasundhara Doreswamy being awarded the Sambhrama Puraskara. The packed hall saw the artistes take the stage with ease and confidence as they started their performance.

What was commendable was their coordination. Parts of the Bhagavad Gita were portrayed by the team in its unique style as the girls joined the boys to perform various stunts.

From swirling on the wheelchair to making different formations on it, the group displayed incredible courage and creativity. The young dancers not only performed each and every step with perfection and grace but also helped each other on stage.
The audience encouraged the artistes frequently with its applause. Many children
attended the programme and were seen enjoying themselves. Ten-year-old Ayush, who was there at the programme with his parents, was awestruck by the talented group of dancers. “For a minute, I thought I was seeing an international act on television. They were very good and I loved the stunts performed by them. It was a great show. There is a lot to learn from them and I aspire to be as confident and courageous as them,” he says.

The audience was full of praises for the team. Some spectators went on to say that they had never seen something like this before.

“It was an experience of a lifetime and the way they have been groomed and taught is commendable. I had heard a lot about them and realised how talented they are after seeing the show. I am waiting for their next show in the City and will definitely spread the word about their talent. I enjoyed myself thoroughly,” said Likhita, who was there at the show.
