Sandeep bags 400M top honours

Sand­eep of HPCL clinched gold in the men’s 400 metres event on the second day of the 34th PSPB inter-unit athletics meet here at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Wednesday.

Sandeep pocketed the yellow metal with a time of 48.4 seconds, while ONGC’s Manjit Singh took silver after stopping the clock at 48.6. Jagadish Chandra of IOCL claimed the bronze with a time of 49.1.

In the men’s 5000 metres event, ONGC’s Suresh Kumar clocked 14:46.1 to bag the gold.

Indrajit Patel, also of ONGC, finished 0.7 seconds slower to take home the silver. OIL’s Shashi Bhushan Singh was third.
