The High Court on Thursday gave visitation rights to French diplomat Pascal Mazurier’s mother to see her grandchildren at the Family Court in the presence of Director and Deputy Director of Mediation Centre on January 31 for an hour.

A Division Bench comprising K L Manjunath and Ravi Malimath passed an order hearing a civil contempt petition stating that ‘in order to avoid controversy and put an end to the case, Pascal's mother is permitted to see her grandchildren for an hour as ordered by the Family Court on July 20, 2013. Suja Jones, Pascal's wife was directed to bring the children at the mediation centre on January 31 at the time of Pascal's mother's visit. The bench also directed both the complainant (Pascal) and the respondent (Suja Jones) and their respective counsels to be present during the visit to avoid any unpleasantness. Suja has accused Pascal of sexually abusing their minor daughter.

Plea dismissed

The High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition which objected to the installation of Kannada thespian Dr Rajkumar's bronze statue at South End Circle in Jayanagar. A petition filed by party-in-person Ashok Kumar was dismissed by a division bench comprising Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice B V Nagarathna. The petitioner had contended that the statue was spoiling the beauty of the park and sought directions to remove the statue already installed.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Waghela asked the petitioner if he was not a fan of the late actor, to which the petitioner said he is very much a fan but only objected to the statue in the park.  The petitioner had contended that the said statue was against Karnataka Parks, Play-fields and Open spaces (Preservation and Regulation) Act, 1985. The bench said the court cannot sit on the petition where the decision on the statue has already been made in the BBMP council meeting.
