173 booked for drag racing

Home Minister K J George said 173 cases have been registered against persons indulging in drag racing in the City.

In a written reply to BJP member Lehar Singh, he said directions have been issued to the police to cancel the licence of people indulging in drag race.

The police, he said, were taking action against youth indulging in drag race.

Five persons, including the prime accused Mayur in the  Sandeep murder case, have been apprehended, he said in his reply to a question on the action taken by the police to prevent drag racing in the wake of death of 25-year-old Sandeep, who was killed by a drag racer on January 26.

BDA donations

MLCs have urged the government to streamline the manner in which Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) provides donations to different organisations.

The BDA has spent Rs 18.21 crore towards donations between 2007 and 2014, as per a written reply provided by the chief minister to a query by MLC Ashwath Narayan (BJP).
