Rlys to launch 'premium' trains with 'dynamic' fares

Buoyed by the success of dynamic fares in winter trains, the railways has announced it would start “premium trains on premium paths” service from important destinations like Delhi, Bangalore, Howrah, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Secunderabad.

The date and schedule of the services is being worked out, as the railways decided to introduce the service following the success of the premier trains during winter vacation.

Sources said railways had gained 37 per cent more revenue from dynamic fares in premier trains in routes where there was a considerable surge in holiday crowd.

Dynamic fares were charged in proportion with the available births. In routes where the available births are lower, the fares would be higher. Passengers can conversely pay less for early booking similar to the air tickets.

Premier trains will boast of facilities similar to Rajdhani and other super fast services. They will be either completely air-conditioned or will have a mixture of a/c and non-a/c coaches.
Railways is considering nearly 20 routes for the service.
