Nilekani begins campaigning for LS polls

Last Updated 01 February 2014, 20:31 IST

The Congress has not yet announced Nandan Nilekani as the candidate for Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency. But he has already began his campaign.

On Saturday, Nilekani met a few residents in and around Bannerghatta. He visited two apartments, apparently to understand the aspirations and the problems faced by the residents, including road infrastructure and water shortage.

Nilekani also spoke to the residents of Ayyappa Temple Hall in Vijaya Bank Layout.

During one of the interactions, he said that it was the Congress party which gave him a chance to execute the Aadhaar project. “Five years ago, we promised that we would issue 60 crore Aadhaar numbers. We have already issued 57.5 crore Aadhaar cards and will reach the target soon. I intend to fulfill my promises, in whatever I do,” he added.
