Ksheera Bhagya extended to Palike schools

Last Updated 02 February 2014, 20:48 IST

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched Ksheera Bhagya scheme covering about 9,000 students in Palike-run schools. Under the scheme, free milk will be provided thrice a week to children.

The scheme would be introduced and monitored by the Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat without any financial burden on the BBMP.

BBMP-run schools in the City were excluded in the scheme launched last year. Now, milk will be provided through the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which is already providing free mid-day meals to schoolchildren in and around Bangalore.
