Haroon Kazi, the good-looking villain of Jai Ho, has been the talk of the town lately with Salman Khan appreciating him for his work in the movie. This model-turned-businessman-turned-actor talks about the movie and the experience of working with the Khan brothers.

“It was a very humbling to be praised by an actor as great as Salman Khan. I was flabbergasted to hear him talk about me, and it clearly shows how nice he is as a person,” says Haroon.

Unfolding the story of how he got noticed, Haroon says that he and Sohail Khan went to the same gym and got acquainted. “One day he walked up to me and asked me, ‘do you want to act in a film?’. I was running on the treadmill and almost fell off,” he says. Haroon adds that after this, Sohail asked him to relax and catch his breath. “He did not tell me which project I would be taken for. All he told me was that I should train for six months, and that he would take me for some project that he would be doing soon,” says Haroon.

Working with the Khan brothers was a dream-come-true for Haroon. “It’s easy to work with the Khan brothers. They never pressurise or demand stuff from you. When you can’t perform, they give you the time you need to be confident.

They are very encouraging. Be it food or anything else, Salman bhai always made it a point to make me feel at home,” says Haroon. He remembers that on the sets of Jai Ho, the Khan brothers always served the best of food to everyone and it was amazing to see how warm they were.

Ask Haroon about his favourite actor in the industry and he’s quick to answer, “It’s Salman bhai.” Having modelled earlier and won the ‘Gladrags’ title, acting for Haroon was not that difficult. “I consider acting as an extension of modelling. One has to do poses and showcase expressions and stage presence matters in both the fields.

It’s only the dialogue delivery that is added. But for me, acting is much easier,” he says. Haroon clarifies that he isn’t saying that he is a born actor. “One might be conscious while facing the camera for the first time, but once you clear that, it’s very easy,” he explains.

Haroon’s fitness mantra includes working out at the gym everyday. “Even if one is on a holiday, he needs to work out for at least 20 minutes a day. It can vary from hardcore workout to anything, but it is necessary that everyone does some sort of exercise. It’s as important as eating,” he vouches.

Since Jai Ho, Haroon has been getting many offers from the film industry. “I didn’t talk about my work in Jai Ho before the movie was released. Same goes for my future projects too. I have my fingers crossed and want the audience to decide after watching the movies themselves,” he
wraps up.
