Awareness workshop against domestic violence held

District Sessions Judge V G Sawadakar said, domestic violence against women will reduce if there is peace and harmony in the society, which will be reflected on families.

He was speaking during the inaugural function of an awareness workshop against domestic violence, organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Women and Children Development department and Sadhana Grameena, Girijana Mathu Nagarabhivrudhi Samsthe, here, on Wednesday.

New laws have been enacted to protect the interests of women. If they are enforced properly, perpetrators will thinks twice before harming women, he said.

Zilla Panchayat President Yashoda Prabhuswamy, Planning Director J A Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner D Bharathi, Deputy Director for Women and Children Welfare B Basavaraju and others were present.
