12,000 projects taken up at cost of Rs 1,500 crores across Bangalore City

 
The BBMP officials said 4,000 works are already completed, and 4,000 projects are in preliminary stage while 4,000 more projects are in progress across the City.  “The cost of all the projects, in toto, will come up to approximately Rs 1,500 crore,” said a Bruhat Bangalore MahanagaraPalike official.

The 4,000 projects under progress is costing the exchequer Rs 500 crore.

Meanwhile, the public can monitor progress of all these works on the website from the first week of December.  Under the BBMP Web Project Monitoring System, people can keep tabs on the works undertaken in their respective wards.

“We are training the zonal chief engineers to update the works everyday in their wards and under the various MLA constituencies,” said the official.  People can also look at works that have exceeded the time frame set for the particular project, apart from the details of  extra amount of money being spent it.

“The entire project details including beginning and completion dates apart from the cost overrun, if any,” said the official.  Even spillover works will also be flagged on the web portal. The works that should have commenced on or before March 1, 2009 will be available for public viewing under spillover works.  BBMP officials said, nearly 60 to 70 per cent of the works are already uploaded and it will take 10 more days to finish the project management.
