Music review

Flashback to 2013

All the hit songs, which reverberated and resonated over 2013, are now available in one single album, OMG! Ultimate Hits comprising some great remixes, EDM (electronic dance music) and dance hits, minus of course, techno, trance, trip-hop, house.

This album is a non-stop party compilation with hit after hit. There are remixed versions, radio edits, club remixes and alternative definitive mixes of club hits. Although a bit dated, this 32-track compilation has some of the best cuts that play for over two hours. The disc boasts of artistes like Pitbull with “Give Me Everything”, Alexandra Stan’s “Mr Saxobeat” and Shakira with her smash hit “Rabiosa”. There’s some EDM on “Throw Your Hands Up” (Qwote feat. Pitbull) while “Bon, Bon” (Pitbull) should get you on the dance floor. Some bubblegum pop heads your way from One Direction with their super-hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” More pop material comes from Olly Murs’ “Heart Skips A Beat” and Jennifer Hudson with “No One Gonna Love You.”

Other catchy numbers are the less popular but chart toppers Adrian Sina feat. Sandra N with Angel, “We Speak No Americano” (Yolande be Cool and Dicup), “Best Love Song” (T Pain feat Chris Brown) and Britney Spears with “Criminal”, among others. Tracks by artistes such as Katy B, Kreayshawn and Jackie Evancho seem unknown, but hit-makers like J Cole, Kelly Clarkson, Kasabian, The Script and Train give you moments to relish.

The pop divas have a fair representation — Kesha, Avril Lavigne, Leona Lewis, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson. For those who have missed buying some of the CDs in which these first appeared, this is a good compilation.
