Purandeswari fires salvo at Congress high command

The first salvo of the Samaikyandhra campaign has once again come from the family of  N T Rama Rao who had in 1982 rocked the state and kept the Congress away from power for over two decades in the state.

NTR’s daughter and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Daggubati Purandeswari on Saturday said that she would not contest the Parliamentary elections in 2014 as a protest against the manner in which the Centre had treated Union ministers in the bifurcation issue.

“You have cut our throats and pushed us into bonfire” she said in a letter to Congress secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh   Digvijay Singh.

Purandeswari said it was very sad that the Congress high command had kept all the Union ministers and MPs from the region in the dark and neither did they take them into confidence nor hold consultation on any occasion. “We have been treated just like the man on the street. And the high command attitude has been that if we don’t like it, we are free to do whatever we want,” she said in her two-page letter.
