Taking a break from routine

Last Updated 10 February 2014, 13:08 IST

The campus of PES Degree College looked colourful and bright as students celebrated the ‘Cultural Week’ and dressed up according to different themes. Innovative concepts like corporate day, Twins’ Day, retro day etc were introduced in the campus and the students did their best to fit in the bill.

Vijayashree, a student, said that it was great to plan the entire thing. “We all dressed according to the day we were celebrating. It was an amazing experience. On the Twins’ Day, we dressed up in matching colours and prints and came to college. All the students stuck to the theme that was given,” she added.

Students wore different kinds of clothes over the course of the week. Twins’ Day was the most interesting of the lot as two students wore the same kind of clothes and sported a similar hairstyle.

The campus was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm as students could be seen helping each other and planning what to wear the next day. It gave them an opportunity to innovate and bring out their creative side.

Shahana, a student, said it was a lot of fun to plan and prepare for the cultural week. “We had the same programme last year as well and all of us were waiting for the cultural week. We planned what to wear throughout the week. Different cultural functions and competitions like collage making  were a part of the celebrations. The response of the students was great and all of us participated in the celebrations with great energy,” she adds.

Students could be seen adding their bit to the programme and going the extra mile to coordinate their clothes and look. “It was a good break from the routine. We were all looking forward to this week. For the Twins’ Day, while some of us decided to buy a T-shirt or top of the same colour and print, the others coordinated with their friends to wear clothes that looked the same. It was a lot of fun and there was healthy competition among all of us. This week gave us a refreshing break from the routine and now we can go back to our studies with a fresh mind,” said Shwetha.

Students exhibited their coordination and creativity at the programme and the outcome was extremely colourful.
