Continuous protest to urge govt to repair roads

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the Swamiji said that the Koodige-Shirangala road stretch under Madikeri - Hassan state highway has been completely damaged and not fit for vehicles’ movement.  It has been decided by the villagers of Shirangala, Thorenooru, Hebbale, Koodige and Koodumangaluru to hold continuous protest at a villagers’ meet held at Thorenooru on Saturday, he said adding that an action committee also has been formed.

Zilla Panchayat member V P Shashidhar said that it is unfortunate that the government did not take any decision with regard to the development of road, even though it was remaining in a bad state for the past 15 years. The road stretch, which is filled with potholes, needs to be developed immediately, he added. People of the region would fight in an apolitical way till the government take initiative to develop the road, he said adding that a memorandum in this connection will be sent to the government through MLA Appachuranjan.

ZP former president K P Chandrakala said that the villagers had sumbitted several memorandum to the government. Villagers have lost their patience as the government is not paying heed to their request, she added.
