Churchill clash with Rangdajied

Last Updated 10 February 2014, 18:00 IST

After their maiden Federation Cup win, Churchill Brothers are raring to go against Rangdajied when they meet each other in the first match of the second leg of the I-League here at the Tilak Stadium on Tuesday.

Churchill Brothers coach Mariano Dias said after the Federation Cup success the expectation of the team is high and ‘I am sure it will inspire the boys to turn around things and do well in the second leg and avoid the relegation and finish among the top five at the end of the league,” Dias said.

“In the Federation Cup, we played with only two foreigners and did not lose a single match. Now that we will (be) playing the third foreigner, Costa Rica striker Christian Lagos, it will give more teeth to the strike force. We have no injury worries and the one and half month break helped the boys to do well and recover from the injuries,” Dias added.

Just like Churchill Brothers, Rangdejied United FC, are languishing near the foot of the table with 12 points – just two more than their opponents. Their coach Santosh Kashyap stated that his team are looking to improve their league standing.

“I know that Churchill Brothers are high of confidence after their maiden win in the Federation Cup and also have the advantage of playing at home. But we are looking for the right start tomorrow (Tuesday) and will throw everything at them to earn a point,” Rangdajied coach Kashyap said.
