SP attacks Delhi govt for filing FIRs on gas pricing

Samajwadi Party today attacked the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government for registering FIRs against union ministers and industrialists, saying this was a "drama" staged by people like him to hide their inefficiency and attain "political martyrdom".

"I have been saying that this is a drama staged by such inexperienced people to hide their inefficiency.... This is 100 per cent political witch-hunt," SP leader Naresh Aggrawal told reporters outside Parliament.

He was asked to react to Delhi Government's decision to register FIRs against Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani for alleged irregularities in gas pricing.

The SP leader said this was a new trend in the political system that "whosoever comes to power, starts registering FIRs against their political rivals and talk about arresting them. No one is talking about development."

Aggrawal said if Kejriwal was serious about addressing inflation, "why does he not cut the prices of essential items in Delhi. The national capital is the most expensive place in the country."

He alleged that the AAP and its leaders "do not want to do anything and just want to be in the list of political martyrs. I think he has decided that he does not want to be Chief minister for very long and wants to attain political martyrdom.

"I think he wants to tell the people of Delhi that he should be given a clear majority (in next elections) as I have been martyred for you," Aggrawal said.
