Pandemonium broke out in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday when opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) members trooped into the well alleging discrimination against certain “ignored” areas of the state and flung chairs and mikes while some climbed atop the table of reporting staff.

A party MLA, Mustaq Ahmed Shah was injured during the ensuing scuffle between them and security staff.

The Assembly witnessed unruly scenes as the PDP and other opposition parties did not allow the House to function over their demand for setting up new administrative units in the state, forcing adjournment for the day.Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the opposition action as “shameful behaviour.”

PDP members led by Mehbooba Mufti stood up from the benches holding placards depicting discrimination in setting up new administrative units and trooped into well of the House. Speaker Mubarak Gul called the watch-and-ward staff into the well of the House, leading to scuffle that lasted nearly half an hour.
