Seminar on 'Dakshina Kannada after 1947'

St Aloysius College (Autonomous) will be organising a national-level seminar ‘Dakshina Kannada after 1947’ on February 14 and 15 at the Eric Mathias hall in the college premises.

Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, Convenor Vishanz Pinto said the main emphasis of the seminar is learning about Dakshina Kannada and it’s developments after 1947, which include the various communities, languages, education and everything that makes DK district what it is. The seminar will include learned deliberations from scholars who have studied various facets of Dakshina Kannada from early times to the present, he added.

The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony will be MLA J R Lobo while St Aloysius College Registrar Dr A M Narahari will be the guest of honour. Principal Rev Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ will preside over the programme and Mangalore University Dept of History and Research Former Chairman Dr Surendra Rao will deliver the keynote address.

Principal Fr Swebert said that OOD facility will be given to the participating delegates.The valedictory ceremony will be on February 15, the chief guest of which, will be Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management Professor G V Joshi while St Aloysius Institutions Rector Rev Fr Denzil Lobo SJ will preside.
