It is that time of the year when lovers have a reason to celebrate. Valentine’s Day is here and many Bangaloreans have already made arrangements to be with their Valentines at their favourite place on the big day.

Reservations have already been made in some of the posh restaurants and pubs. Even gift shops are selling items at their best prices.Vivek Chandiramani, who owns Everyday Gifts Store on Brigade Road, said: “Like every year, this year too, people have come to choose best gifts. Unlike birthdays or other celebratory occasions when you just call up and wish, Valentine’s Day has people actually buying gifts, even going to the extent of making the occasion a personalised one.”

Personalised mugs, T-shirts and photo frames are selling like hot cakes. The items are priced anywhere between Rs 99 and 3,000. There is also a new range of chocolates, soft toys and artificial roses that have come in the market.

Sadly, one can also witness children selling roses on the streets of the City. Sadhana, 12, who sells flowers, told Deccan Herald that she makes extra profit by selling the roses at a higher price. The prices of the roses too shoot up during the week.

Expensive restaurants have been crowded as some couples have planned their entire week together. “We get reservations a week in advance,” said Manoj, a restaurant manager.

Even though many people remain conventional and celebrate the day with their special ones, there is another lot which celebrates the day with anyone they care about— mother, father or even a friend.

“I think the celebration is what matters. I am going out with my mother since I think she is my most cherished Valentine,” said Prakruthi Datta, a student.”
