Dinesh Gundu Rao
Gandhinagar MLA

What are the developmental activities carried out in your area during your tenure?

A lot of developmental activities have taken place in our constituency. We developed parks like Freedom Park and Nehru Park, which are one of the best parks in the city and built indoor stadiums at Seshadripuram and Binnypet. We are sorting out the drainage problem at Chickpet. New Anganwadi centres have come up in my constituency.

The pilot project of Zero Garbage area of the BBMP started from Gandhinagar in my constituency. Other constituencies too have started adopting it.

You have Gandhinagar to showcase but you have got Chickpet as well. Why is Chickpet, particularly Avenue Road, in such a mess?

It is a revenue layout of old Bangalore area. The roads are quite narrow here. We are trying to improve the situation. Government plans to widen the road but it should not be done without taking the traders into confidence.

Many areas of your constituency are in a pathetic state. Why is it so?

We are improving gradually. There was a slum in our area and we built houses for them at Sunkadakatte so as to develop the entire area in a planned way.

Never in the past such a rehabilitation was done and people readily accepted to move to Sunkadakatte.

Your constituency is facing acute water crisis.

What remedial measures are you taking?

I blame the ruling party MLAs who influence the BWSSB authorities to siphon-off water, which is meant for my constituency.

I had complained it several times but nothing substantial happened.
