Energy Minister assures 22-hour power in cities

DKS clarifies that Ramya is Sonia Gandhi’s choice for Mandya

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar said, steps are being taken to see to it that people do not suffer due to power crisis during summer.

He was speaking to reporters, in Maddur, on Thursday, during his visit to the town to oversee arrangements for the scheduled road-show of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on February 16.

7 hrs in villages

He said, in rural areas, power would be given for at least seven hours, including three phase, while in cities and industrial areas power would be supplied for at least 22 hours.Reacting to former prime minister H D Deve Gowda’s comments on Rahul Gandhi, Shivakumar said, before questioning the contribution of Rahul Gandhi to the nation, Gowda should introspect about his own contribution to the State.

Addressing Congress party workers in Mandya, he said, AICC president Sonia Gandhi has cleared MP Ramya’s name for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Mandya constituency and there was no confusion over the issue. “Both the district in-charge Minister Ambareesh and district Congress president M S Athmananda have given in writing, during a KPCC meeting held in Bangalore, recently, that they do not have any difference of opinion regarding the candidate.


He said, already the BJP and the JD(S) are giving tough fight for the party and dissidence in the party would only prove very dear. District president M S Athmananda, ex-MLA K B Chandrasekhar, ex-MLC Madhu Madegowda, KPCC member Ravindra Srikantaiah and others were present.
